Find out how our education activities may contribute towards your continuing professional development (CPD) points.
We recognise that many professionals who work for reporting entities must participate in development programs and activities. These ensure you maintain and extend your professional capabilities, knowledge and skills.
We provide comprehensive education activities to help businesses and anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) professionals understand:
- financial crime risks
- the AML/CTF obligations that reporting entities must comply with.
We don’t mandate CPD requirements for AML/CTF professionals. This means our education activities may not meet requirements for all CPD regimes. You and your CPD issuer must decide if an AUSTRAC education activity meets your CPD requirements.
How we deliver education
Our education activities include:
- designated AUSTRAC events, such as conferences, symposiums or forums
- webinars (live and recorded)
- e-learning modules.
These activities may include quiz assessments designed to:
- confirm learning outcomes
- encourage you to test your knowledge and understanding of the topic.
We provide all AUSTRAC education activities free of charge.
Reporting entities must provide training for personnel who perform or will perform AML/CTF roles. Participating in our education activities alone doesn’t meet the requirements of personnel training. To learn more visit AML/CTF training.
When we deliver education activities
We hold our live education activities during business hours, Monday to Friday. This excludes national public holidays and our shutdown period.
Where possible we provide:
- multiple date/time options for live activities
- recordings of live education activities.
Accruing CPD points
Your individual CPD regime will decide how many CPD points you can accrue by participating in our education activities.
Our education activities vary in duration. You should consult specific requirements under your CPD regime to decide whether:
- our education activities qualify for CPD points
- you can participate in multiple activities and combine them to qualify for CPD points.
Certification for activities you completed
We will issue a certificate of completion when you successfully complete an activity. If your CPD issuer requires other attendance verification, we will liaise with them as needed.
