A person or entity providing remittance services (also known as money transfer) in Australia without being registered with us. It’s against the law to provide remittance services in Australia without being registered.

A digital representation of value that both:

• may be transferred, stored or traded electronically
• aren’t issued by or under the authority of a government body.

Virtual assets have certain functions, such as:

• a medium of exchange
• a store of economic value
• a unit of account
• an investment
• a governance token for distributed autonomous organisations.

This doesn’t include Central Bank Digital Currencies and other government issued virtual assets.

An entity that, as a business, provides designated services involving virtual assets to a customer, such as the exchange, transfer or safekeeping of virtual assets.

A physical or virtual means of storing private keys that allow the holder to control virtual assets.
