Update, 9 November 2024

There has been a delay today with the rollout of the new forms. AUSTRAC Online is expected to be back online by 8:00pm (AEDT).

Upcoming changes to enrolment and registration forms

A new and improved enrolment and registration experience through AUSTRAC Online (AO) will be introduced in November 2024.

In September 2023, the AML/CTF Rules were amended to strengthen the applicable customer identification procedures (ACIP) that apply to online gambling service providers.

These changes help ensure that online gambling services are not exploited by criminals.

We are enhancing AUSTRAC Online to make it easier for you and your business to engage with us. AUSTRAC works closely with our partner agencies to help fight money laundering and other crimes. One of the many taskforces we’re involved in is the Serious Financial Crime Taskforce (SFCT), led by the Australian Taxation Office.

In 2021, AUSTRAC’s Child Sexual Exploitation Response Team identified an Australian man as a person of interest due to transaction activity consistent with child sexual exploitation financial indicators.

Money laundering is not a victimless crime – it has real world impacts.

Criminals seek to take advantage of businesses to clean their dirty money obtained by illegal activities like trafficking drugs or humans. This money is often reinvested in further criminal enterprises that amplify these harms.

The Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus and AUSTRAC CEO Brendan Thomas formally released our unclassified National Risk Assessments (NRAs) of money laundering and terrorism financing at the National Press Club in July 2024.

In July, AUSTRAC hosted a series of industry sector-specific webinars highlighting the key findings from Australia’s national risk assessments (NRAs) on money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation financing.

We are seeking your feedback on draft updates to guidance on using alternative identification procedures by 30 October 2024.

Updated information is now available to help you effectively use AUSTRAC guidance and feedback when assessing your money laundering and terrorism financing (ML/TF) risks.
