During this module we covered the following topics:

  • the organisational requirements of Part A (general) and adding ML/TF risk management to existing risk management strategies
  • oversight of the AML/CTF program by boards and senior management to ensure that AML/CTF processes are developed and implemented and to ensure its control systems facilitate effective monitoring
  • ensuring training for employees is carried out on the business's AML/CTF policies, methods and processes to manage the ML/TF risk and the importance of implementing and maintaining an AML/CTF program
  • the processes whereby a business screens its staff members for ML/TF risk
  • designating an 'AML/CTF Compliance Officer' at management level and the responsibilities of this role
  • the obligation to carry out an independent review of your AML/CTF program using internal or external parties
  • feedback by AUSTRAC on your AML/CTF program
  • the obligation to identify, mitigate and manage ML/TF risk for any designated services offered through a permanent establishment in a foreign country
  • regulatory risks associated with developing, implementing and managing an AML/CTF program Part A
  • AML/CTF program Part A and designated business groups.
