Overview of the AML/CTF Act


The Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF Act) forms part of a legislative package to reform Australia's AML/CTF regulatory regime, which will bring Australia into line with international best practice to deter money laundering and terrorism financing. In this module we will look at the purpose of the AML/CTF Act and its key requirements.

Overview of the FTR Act


The Financial Transaction Reports Act 1988 (FTR Act) is part of Australia's anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing legislative framework. From 12 December 2008 most entities (cash dealers) covered by the FTR Act now have obligations under the AML/CTF Act.


Note: This module is only relevant to cash dealers who have not been captured under the AML/CTF Act.
